Ski in Dubai

Ski Dubai at the Mall of the Emirates is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and, at 22,500 m² of snow area, one of the largest in the world. The 85 m high hall offers 5 slopes of varying difficulty, a generous snow park and an interactive penguin habitat. With a constant –1 to –2 °C, skiing in Dubai is possible year-round – a classic for families, ski-school newcomers and summer travellers who want to escape the desert heat.

Slopes & Lifts at Ski Dubai

5 slopes, 3 lifts, 1.5 km total length – compact but varied.

Beginner Slope (Blue)

Gentle practice slope with carpet lifts and an easy T-bar.

  • Ideal for first-timers and kids
  • Ski school right next door

Intermediate Slopes (Red)

3 mid-difficulty slopes – some sections with moguls.

  • Great for practising carving turns
  • About 200–300 m long

Black Slope / Longest Run

Longest slope at 400 m – the steepest descent in the hall, for upper intermediates.

  • Longest lift takes you straight to the top
  • Start early when the hall is busy

Snow Park & Snow Bullet (Tube Slide)

Beyond the slopes: Snow Park, snow castle, Snow Bullet (tube slide) and the Mountain Thriller (bobsled-style track).

  • Skis + boots or snowboard + boots
  • Hat and gloves available for ~30 AED extra

Best Time to Visit & Tips

Ski Dubai is open year-round, but visitor levels vary noticeably.

Summer (Jun–Aug)

Peak season: many visitors fleeing 40 °C+ outdoors.

  • Mornings are quieter
  • Book tickets online in advance

Winter (Dec–Feb)

Lower attendance as outdoor activities become more attractive.

  • Best time for relaxed skiing without lift queues

Spring/Autumn

Balanced visitor numbers – usually very pleasant.

Best Time of Day

9:30–11:30 AM is the quietest. Afternoons fill up, evenings are family time.

Safety & Practical Info

Indoor ski hall with a professional setup – a few things still worth noting.

Gear

  • Bring your own warm socks and gloves (rentals are thin)
  • A hat under the helmet feels nicer
  • A sweater or fleece helps – just the jacket gets cool when standing still

Safety

  • Helmet mandatory, provided
  • Medical post on site in case of injury
  • Emergency: 999 (police), 998 (ambulance)

Access

Mall of the Emirates – red metro line stops directly at the mall, Ski Dubai is signposted on the 1st floor.

Penguin Program

Highlight: optional Penguin Encounter Program – internationally awarded for conservation.
